Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark: One of England's most popular 80s synthpop groups, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (or OMD), are back on the road with tour dates in 2011. After scoring hits with songs like "Souvenir", "If You Leave", and "Maid of Orleans" in the 80s, OMD's latest album, History of Modern, marks a return to the group's hit sound after 14 years without a release. Fans of the group are ecstatic about their return, and are even more excited about Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark's upcoming tour dates in 2011.

OMD was formed by childhood friends Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphrey's in 1978, as the two shared a mutual love of Brian Eno and Kraftwerk. After performing a number of local concerts as a duo -- including opening tour dates for Gary Numan -- they invited former bandmates Malcolm Holmes and Martin Cooper into the fold. OMD's first few albums featured early hits like "Messages", "Enola Gay", and "Souvenir" while the band developed a unique sound with synthesizers and a Mellotron. Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark's soon scored monumental hits with popper songs like "Locomotion" off of Junk Culture and "If You Leave", which was written for the movie Pretty in Pink. Humphrey's left the band in 1989, which led to a period in the 90s and early 2000s where only McCluskey performed as OMD.

The classic line-up of OMD reconvened in 2006, which has led to the release History of Modern and 2011 tour dates that mark the band's first since 1988. Beginning on August 29, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark will perform throughout Germany and Ireland before heading to North America on September 16 to play the remainder of their shows. 2011 tour dates end on October 15, so buy your tickets for this momentous event today!
